When people think of Australian grapes, seedless varieties often come to mind. But for many grape lovers around the world, seeded grapes still hold a special place at the table.
At Lazzara Fruits, we proudly grow and export both types—but today, we’re shining a light on one of our favourite seeded varieties.
Red Globe: The King of Seeded Grapes
Red Globe is one of the most well-known seeded grapes grown in Australia. With its striking size, rich red colour and classic grape flavour, Red Globe remains a favourite in international markets that value tradition and taste. These grapes are very large, round, and packed with a sweetness that lingers—making them perfect for sharing, gifting, baking, or simply enjoying fresh from the bunch. Packed with natural goodness, grapes do more than taste great — they’re a real boost for your gut.
Why We Still Grow Seeded Grapes
While the demand for seedless grapes continues to grow, seeded grapes like Red Globe still play an important role in our production. Some markets prefer them for cultural reasons. Others choose them for their intense flavour and firm bite. We grow seeded grapes not just to meet market demand—but because we believe in offering a full range of high-quality, premium produce.
How We Grow Our Grapes
At Lazzara Fruits, every grape starts with hands-on care. Our vineyard is proudly family owned and operated by Joe and Frances Lazzara and their four sons—Josef, Stevan, Dean and Brien. Together, we manage every step of the process, from growing and harvesting through to packing and exporting.
We’re based in Robinvale, Victoria—an ideal location for producing fresh, vibrant Australian grapes. Our family monitors the vines daily during the growing season, making sure every bunch develops the size, sweetness and structure our customers expect.
In recent years, we’ve adopted innovative and sustainable farming methods to support long-term quality and care. Every decision we make is focused on delivering grapes that are consistent, reliable and fresh—whether they’re headed to a local grocer or halfway around the world.
Cooling & Quality Control
Once harvested, our seeded grapes go straight into high-humidity cool rooms, helping them stay crisp and fresh for longer. These rooms are monitored by computer to maintain the perfect temperature and conditions. From there, the grapes are inspected, packed, and loaded directly into cool storage containers. This keeps them protected and reduces handling—so they arrive in perfect condition.
Thanks to our strict quality systems and accreditations—including HACCP, Global GAP and Fair Farms—our customers can trust that every box of seeded grapes is grown and packed to the highest standard.
Exporting Red Globe Grapes Worldwide
We’re DAFF-accredited and set up to perform on-farm fruit inspections right here in our warehouse. This gives us the ability to export directly from our cool rooms, meeting protocols for a wide range of international markets.
Because we handle every step ourselves, we maintain full control over the cold chain, traceability and final product quality. Our Red Globe seeded grapes leave the vineyard just as they should—fresh, full of flavour, and handled with care.
Looking Ahead
While we continue to innovate and explore new varieties through programs like IFG, SNFL, ITUM and ARRA, we also stay connected to the classics. Red Globe will always be part of our story. It represents not only a strong export variety but also our commitment to providing a complete and high-quality range of Australian grapes.
